Roncesvalles

Roncesvalles Village (also known as ‘Roncie’) is centred along Roncesvalles Avenue. The district is culturally known as the centre of the Polish community with outstanding Polish institutions, businesses and St Casimir’s Catholic Church located at its heart.

Although mainly a residential neighbourhood, a commercial strip runs the full length of Roncesvalles with a number of restaurants, delicatessens and shops that specialize in Polish goods. Some storefronts have the sign “Mówimy po polsku” (“We speak Polish”) displayed.

This ethnic enclave is well known for its annual Roncesvalles Village Polish Festival which is held every fall. The festival includes clothing, craft, food stands, amusement rides and outdoor musical entertainment. It is considered the largest Polish festival in North America.
